There are two core open access datasets which form the basis of the information on this site. The first is a list of all prices paid for properties since 1995 and is available from Her Majesty’s Land Registry. There is also some fun other data in here including the build type of the property (for example, a semi-detached house) and whether the property is new or not. The second dataset is the Energy Performance Certificates which are required when selling a property and which is available from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities. If you have ever read an EPC report (an example of which can be found here) you know that there is a lot of information here, designed to assess the energy efficiency of the property. Through combining these two datasets, we can compare prices paid to a number of characteristics.
